comment：These subtitles strongly give an impression that ☆the word 'king' is quite unfamiliar to Boromir, as if Gondor were a republic that had never known kingship.

comment：The subtitler, Natsuko Toda, often does this with short sentences: She takes one single noun out of the line and adds a question mark, or else three dots. Another example is in the article of TheOneRing.Net; "Warning?"

Such subtitles, needles to say, give audience little information and much confusion. But it does not occur to many that the fault is in the translation and not in the script itself.

☆the word 'king'に戻しました。
＞「ボロミアの知的水準が貶められている」というずれた印象になるかも知れません。もっとも直後のas if節があるからこの心配は杞憂でしょうか。
いくら何でも「 king という単語を知らない」の意味には取れないと思う（unfamiliar to him は、「知識欠如」とは違う）ので、杞憂でしょう。ということで、前置詞の問題が拡大再生産されるのを避けたりして (^^;)

★劇場字幕２文目は全く同じ英文の繰り返しになるので省略しました。
