| 早速お疲れ様です。
原作も引用しつつ、訳を考えてみます。
私訳は、一つの案として（無理して）敢えてハーブ様の訳と変えてあります（短い文では変えていない箇所もあります）。
引用は、英語が原文、日本語が瀬田訳です。
（瀬田訳に囚われているわけではありませんが、参考として）

ならぬ。生かしておいて、彼にいろいろ訊かねばならんのじゃ。

数多（あまた）のいくさを戦い、多くの武士（もののふ）を倒してきたセオデン王よ。
...and made peace afterwards.
戦いの後には、王は和平を結んでこられましたな。
Can we not take counsel together as we once did, my old friend?
古き友よ、かつてのように、再び盟を結ぶわけには参りませぬかな？
Can we not have peace, you and I?
王と私とで、和平を打ち立てられませぬか？
