    ------------
The Hostpitaler:You know this place, my lord?
Godfrey:(???) I know all of it.

The Hospitaler :The blacksmith is the man you seek. His name is Balian.
But now he mourns. The burial we passed at the crossroad was for his wife.
Her child died. She was overcome with grief and killed herself.

Godfrey:You still advise what you advised upon the road?
The Hospitaler :I do, My lord.

the German: What does that say?
Balian : "What man is a man who does not make the world better."

    Godfrey:Leave me with this man.
(To Balian) I am sorry that you lost your wife and child.
        I ... also have lost.
Some say Jerusalem is the very center of the world for asking forgiveness.
For myself, I call it here, now.

I knew your mother. To be courteous I should say
that it was against her objections.
But I did not force her. I loved her in my fashion.
Balian, I'm your father. I have forgiveness to ask of you.

I am Godfrey, the Baron of Ibelin. I have one hundred men at arms in Jerusalem.
If you come with me, you will have a living and ... will have my thanks, there it is.

Balian : Whoever you are, my lord, my place is here.
Godfrey:What made it your place is now dead.
You will never see me again. If you want anything of me, take it now.
    Balian :I want nothing.

Godfrey:I am sorry for your trouble. God protect you.
Jerusalem is easy to find. Come to where the men speak Italian,
and continue, till they speak something else.
We go by Messina. Good bye.
    ------

    Godfrey:(to his men) Wait here.
(to Balian) You've come to kill me?
Even these days, it is not easy. Well ?

    Balian : I have done ... murder.
    Godfrey:Haven't we all ?
Balian : Is it true, that in Jerusalem I can erase my sins?
And those of my wife? Is it true?
Godfrey:We can find out together. Show me your hand.
    -----
    Godfrey:〔剣をバリアンに与えて〕Take it up.
Let's see what you're made of.
The Hospitaler : His hand is hurt, My lord.
Godfrey:I once fought two days with an arrow through my testicle.
Never use a low guard. You fight well, let's work on your skills.
Take a high guard, like this.
Italians call it "la posto de falcone(?)", the guard of a hawk.
Strike from high, like this. Do it. Sword straighter.
Step back(?). Bend your knees. Sword straighter.
        Defend yourself. 〔
Blade isn't the only part of the sword.
        Attack !

the German:I have your leave?
(to Ballian) Pay attention. Ein! Zwei! Drei! ...

    Godfrey:What's this?
Captain?:You have with you the man, Balian, who killed a priest.
I am charged by the Lord bishop to bring him back.

Balian : What he says is true. They have the right to take me.
the German:I say he did nothing of the charge. If you say he's guilty,
we fight. God will decide the truth of it.
Godfrey:Our German friend is closer to (???) law.

Captain?:Just give him to me. I'll fight for something else. He is a murderer.
Godfrey:So am I. Whoever dies here today, you will certainly be among them.
Captain?:You are a lord. I must give you the road.

Godfrey:Thank the bishop for his love !!〔
The Hospitaler : So you broke the arrow.
If the ribs are broken, marrow may enter the blood,
in which case you take a fever and die.
Or a cyst will form, you will live. You are in the hands of God.

    Godfrey:I can miss more wine.
(To Balian) It was not that they had no right to take you.
It was the way they asked.
Balian :They had the right to take me.
    Godfrey:So do I.
    ---------
    Guy : Who is this?
    Godfrey: My son.
Guy : Would I have fought you when you were still capable of making bastards.
Godfrey: I knew your mother when she was making hers,
but fortunately you're too old to be one of mine.
Guy : All will be said.
    ---------
Godfrey: Do you know what lies in the Holy Land ? A new world.
A man who in France had not a house is, in Holy Land,
the master of the city. He who was the master of the city,
begs in the gutter. There, at the end of the world,
you are not what you are born, but what you have it in yourself to be.

Balian : I have to find forgiveness. That's all I know.

Godfrey:Whatever your position, you are of my house.
That means, you will serve the king of Jerusalem.

Balian : What could a king ask of a man like me?

Godfrey:A better world than has ever been seen.
A kingdom of conscience. A kingdom of heaven.
There is peace between Christians and Muslims.
We can live together. Or, between Saladin and the king, we try.
Did you think that lay at the end of the crusade? It does.
My son, you are all that survives me. Do not disappoint me.
    ---------
The Hospitaler:Get down on your knees.

    Godfrey:
Be without fear in the face of your enemies.
Be brave and upright that God may love thee.
Speak the truth, always, even if it leads to your death.
Safeguard the helpless and do no wrong.

       That is your oath. 〔
It hurts, so you'll remember it.

The Hospitaler:Rise a knight, Baron of Ibelin.

Godfrey:Defend the king. If the king is no more, protect the people.

The Hospitaler:This time you confess to holy God, not your son.
Are you sorry for all your sins?

    Godfrey:For all ... but one.

    **********

    Mullah(Khaled Nabawy)
Why did we retire? Why? God did not favor him.
God alone determines the results of battles.

    Saladin
The results of battles are determined by God.
But also by preparation, numbers, the absence of disease, and the availability of water.
One cannot maintain a siege with the enemy behind.
How many battles did God win for Islam(-iski?) before I came?
That is, before God determined that I should come.

    Mullah
Sure enough. That's because we were sinful.

    Saladin
It is because you were unprepared.

    Mullah
If you think that way, you shall not be king for long.

    Saladin
When I'm not king, I grieve for Islam.
     Thank you for your visit.
     Thank you for your visit.

    Mullah
You promised. You promised to return Jerusalem.
     Don't forget.

I did not give the cup to you.

    Reynold
     No. My lord.

A king does not kill a king.
Were you not close enough to a great king to learn by his example?

    -----------
    Saladinサラディン:
     Who defends?
      誰が[エルサレム城を]守備しているのだ?

    Nasir(イマド):
Ballian of Ibelin, son of Godfrey.

    Saladin
Godfrey? Godfrey nearly killed me in Lebanon. Truly.
I did not know he had a son.
      彼に息子が居たとは知らなかったな。

    Nasir(イマド):
It was his son at Kerak.

The one you let live?

    Nasir(イマド): Yes.
      そうです。

    Saladinサラディン:
     Perhaps you should not have.
      そんなことをしなければ、よかっただろうに。

    Nasir(イマド):
Perhaps. I should have had a different teacher.

     No. I cannot.

    ----------------
    Saladin
     When you yield the city?

    Balian
Before I lose it, I will burn it to the ground. Your holy places, ours.
Every last thing in Jerusalem that drives men mad.

    Saladin
I wonder it would not be better if you did. You will destroy it?

    Balian
Every Christian knight you kill will take ten Saracens with him.
You will destroy your army here and never raise another, I swear to God.
To take the city will be the end of you.

    Saladin
Your city is full of women and children.
If my army will die, so will your city.

    Balian
You offer terms. I ask none.

    Saladin
I will give every soul safe conduct to the Christian lands. Every soul.
The women, the children, the old, and all your knights and soldiers, and your queen.
No one will be hurt. I swear to God.

    Balian
The Christians butchered every Muslim within the walls when they took the city.

    Saladin
I am not those men. I am Salah-a-din. Salah a-Din.

    Balian
Then under these terms, I surrender Jerusalem.

Salam aleikom.

And peace be with you.

What is Jerusalem worth?

Nothing. ...Everythig.

    wear(装う)でよいのでしょうか? were(be動詞過去形)ということはありませんか?

    1)
    > Mullah
    > If you think that way, you shall not be king for long.

    > Saladin
    > When I'm not king, I grieve for Islam.

What know you of Saladin?
That he is the king of Saracens,

    2)
    > No. I cannot.

    Saladin
     When you yield the city?

    Balian
Before I lose it, I will burn it to the ground. Your holy places, ours.
Every last thing in Jerusalem that drives men mad.

    Saladin
I wonder it would not be better if you did. You will destroy it?

    No.3312 と同じく
    ------
    > Godfrey
    > You are all that survives me.

    surviveを他動詞(S+V+O)で使うと、A survives B で「AがBより長く生きのびる」。

    >were(be動詞過去形)ということはありませんか?

    > Saladin
    > I wonder it would not be better if you did. You will destroy it?

    Come, sit.

    Salam aleikom.

    (Saladin : Wa aleikom salam.)

I am Jerusalem. And you, Reynald, give me the kiss of peace.

(Balian : God does not know me.)

    That's what I do.

    ---------
So, my friend, the time has come to conclude my affairs.

We have decided that you shall take command of the army of Jerusalem.

If we leave it with Guy, he will have power through my sister and make war on Muslims.

Hear it all before you answer.

Would you marry my sister Sibylla, were she free of Guy?

    (Balian : And Guy?)

(Tiberias : He will be executed. Along with the knights who do not swear allegiance.)

    (Yes.)
(Sibylla : You've always been beautiful... in every way.)

    My beautiful sister... so beautiful...

I am sorry I've caused you the pain.

    あと、'that is'と'what I do'ですが
