    -------------

    Baldwin IV:Come forward.
I'm glad to meet Godfrey's son.
He was one of my greatest teachers.
He was there when playing with the other boys my arm was cut
and it was he, not my father's physicians, who noticed that I felt no pain.

He wept when he gave my father the news
      that I am a leper.

The Saracens say that this disease is God's vengeance against the vanity of our kingdom.
As wretched as I am, the Arabs believe the chastisement that awaits me in hell is far more severe and lasting.
If that's true, I'd call it unfair.

    Come, sit.

When I was sixteen, I won a great victory.
I felt in that moment I would live to be a hundred.
Now I know I shall not see thirty.

You see, none of us choose our end really.
A king may move a man. A father may claim a son.
But remember that even when those who move you be kings or men of power,
your soul is in your keeping alone.
When you stand before God, you cannot say "but I was told by others to do thus,"
or (that)"virtue was not convenient at that time".
    This will not suffice.
    Remember that.

    Balian: I will.

    Baldwin IV:
Then go out now to your father's house at Ibelin,
And from there protect the pilgrim road. Protect the helpless.
And then perhaps one day, when I am helpless,
you will come to protect me.

    -----------------
Saladin : I pray you pull back your cavalier and leave this matter to me.
Baldwin IV:I pray you retire to your home Damascus.
Reynald de Chatillon will be panished. I swear it.

Withdraw, or we all die here.

      Do we have terms?
      Salahadin: We have terms.

I will send you my physicians.

    -----------------
Baldwin IV:If you continue like this, I shall have to find a use for you.
If God can spare you, that is.

Balian : God does not know me.

    Baldwin IV:That's what I do.

    ---------------
Baldwin IV:So, my friend, the time has come to conclude my affairs.
We have decieded that you shall take command of the army of Jerusalem.
If I leave the army with Guy, he will have power through my sister and make war on the Muslims.

Balian : Whatever you ask, I will serve...
Baldwin IV:No, hear it all before you answer.
Would you marry my sister Sibylla, were she free of Guy de Lusignan?

    Balian : And Guy?
Tiberias : He will be executed. Along with the knights who do not swear (you) allegiance.
Balian : I cannot be the cause of that.
Tiberias : Whatever you ask, I will serve...

Balian : A king may move a man, you said, but the soul belongs to the man.
    Baldwin IV:Yes I did.
Balian : You have my love, and my answer.
    Baldwin IV:Ah. So be it.

    -----------
    Baldwin IV:Ah... hello.
I was dreaming. I was back in that summer. I defeated Saladin.
Do you remember it? I was only sixteen.

Sibylla : You were a beautiful boy.
    Baldwin IV:Yes.
Sibylla : You've always been beautiful... in every way.
Baldwin IV:My beautiful sister... so beautiful...

I am sorry I've caused you the pain.
      Remember me as I was.
