************************** 《おまけ》 試験的にカラータグを使ってみました(使えるというのを最近知ったPC音痴) いずれ整理して最終的にまとめる際には、有効活用したいと思っています。
さて今回のパートでの発見(^^;)、同じ英語台詞を違う人物が違う場面で、の例がまた一つ。 >What becomes of us? どちらも直訳するなら「私とあなたの関係はどうなる?」 シビラがバリアンに、バリアンがイマドに問うています。
前者はいいとして、後者についての私の解釈:「敵として出会い、殺せば容易に殺せたところを助命して旅の道連れとなった。イマドは奴隷となった運命をも受け入れるつもりでいたのに解放され、敬意を表して別れた」といういきさつが過去、それが運命のいたずらで現時点では戦場の敵将同士。 「私たちはどうなるのだ?」というのは、もはや友人というわけにはいかないであろう両者の関係を問うている(たとえば「勝利者と捕虜」の関係になる)が、同時にそれよりも広く「この先は一体どうなるのだ?」でもある。ただ、この時点ではバリアンに選択権はないので、現行字幕 【どうする気だ?】 は問題なし。問題なのはその次だが、それは他の問題箇所とあわせて別投稿とします。
