    日本では未発売（2006年6月現在）、US版は発売中の、リドリー・スコット監督“Kingdom of Heaven Director's Cut”のツリーです。

    ご存知のとおり、本来監督が意図したのはこのバージョンでしたが、映画会社が愚かにも劇場用に無理な短縮を強いて２時間15分の長さで劇場公開されました。その「不完全版」でさえ、私にとっては生涯ベスト３映画入り決定！の秀作で何度も劇場に通いましたが。

    このたびようやく、「より完全な」３時間11分のバージョンを見られるようになったので、日本語版を待ちきれず購入した方々と共に、劇場版にはなかった英語台詞を読み解いていけたらと思い、このツリーを立てます。
    この映画を愛する方々の参加をお待ちします。英語台詞書き取り提供でも、感想のみでも、ご自分の和訳を提供してくださるのでも歓迎です。

    当然ながら、ネタバレそのものの内容ですので、ご自分の判断で見る見ないを決めてください。

    chap 3 Crusaders　司教と司祭（助祭？バリアンの弟、priest）の会話は、全面的に新規。

    Hospitaler：
    You know this place, my lord?
    ［知った土地ですか］
    Godfrey：
    Know it? I know all of it.
    ［そう　知りつくした土地だ］

    bishop:
    Your brother? You have spoken to him?
    ［兄さんとはその後 話したか？］
    Priest:
    On what matter, my lord? He is still arrested.

    bishop:
    Your brother is as responsible for his wife's sin as I am.
    ［妻の自殺に責任があるというなら　私とて同罪だ］

    the Lord：
    We have stood there against the Saracens for over a hundred years.
    ［もう100年も サラセン人どもから守り通している都ではないか］

    Hospitaler：
    Saracens, as you call them, have now unified
    ［あなたの言うサラセン人どもは 今や団結しています］
    in Egypt, Syria and all Arabia.

    the Lord：

    ［十字軍に加わると出ていって以来　26年ぶりだ］
    Now he returns an actual baron of the kingdom of Jerusalem.
    ［本当に エルサレム王国の領主になって 戻って来るとは］
    How is that for the lot of the younger brother?
    ［弟め　出世したものだ］
    With no heir, comes to me and thus to you.
    ［しかも後継ぎはおらぬと］

    Lord's son：
    Then I thank the stars for my uncle.
    ［好機というわけですね*］

    *注：初稿では、この青年が城主の息子か、甥なのかわからず
    uncle＝城主で「伯父上、あなたに幸運が転がり込んできましたね」
    というほうに解釈してしまった。
    しかしchap11で彼が「父と司教の命令で（バリアンを逮捕する）」と言っているので
    息子であることが確認された。ハズれの弁解ではないが、普通ならば
    神または天に感謝する＋for人と来れば、その「人」は幸運ということなのに
    ここではThank you for the coffeeのごとく、「叔父の出現を」天に感謝するの意であった
    ということか。やれやれ。

    今までに10回は言ってきた事ですが、誤訳しない翻訳者はひとりもいません。私は名人でも第一人者でもない普通の翻訳者にすぎません。くれぐれも盲信はしないでください。（7/1記）


    この章で、例の腐れ司祭がバリアンの兄ではなく弟である事が明らかになった。
    公式ガイドブックで「バリアンの兄」と翻訳してしまったスタッフには気の毒なことである。

    （無表情にうずくまるバリアンに）
    Her grave was here. Or was it there？
    ［埋めたのはここだ　いや　あっちか？］
    I'm afraid I cant't tell you the exact location.
    ［はっきりとはわからないな］
    I wasn't present at the burial.
    ［埋葬の時には いなかったんでね］

    （バリアン答えない）

    priest：
    Call me a liar. You have reason.
    ［嘘をつくな、と言わないのか？］

    注1：：海路か陸路か、の意で訳すべきかも。

    注2：：自分の死が近いことを示唆しているが、そこまで訳出できず。

    注3：劇場バージョンの日本語版では、Would I had fought youになっていたのだが。have と had では意味が違ってくる（参照No.3355）
    ただし日本語に訳すとその差は無に等しくなるので、普通なら気にするほどのことではない。

    （以前にも書いたことだが、英語圏DVDの英語字幕は聴覚障害者のためのもので、基本的に普通の人の聞き取り書きにすぎない。脚本家のチェックが入っていないために省略や間違いがあるのは珍しくない。むしろ日本版のほうが、翻訳用に渡された最終脚本に基づいている場合が多い。らしい）

    注4：ここの意訳字幕は気に入っているので、自分の訳に差し替えないが
    原文の意味は「そうか、よかった。それならどっちにとっても問題無しだな」と（私には）解釈できる。
